Chestnut beer is a beer brewed using chestnut flour .

The first beer to be brewed from sweet chestnuts was Pietra , hand- brewed by the Pietra brewery in Corsica. It is a relatively sweet, bock beer- like beer with an alcohol content of 6 percent and a slight tannic acid content , which is noticeable in the taste. It is amber in color.

The production of Pietra started in 1996 in Furiani near Bastia on the French island of Corsica .

Castegna

Castégna is characterized by a slightly sweet chestnut aroma . It is produced by the Locher brewery in Ticino .
