Katamenes arbustorum is a hymenoptera from the family of the wasps (Vespidae).
features
The wasp reaches a body length of 18 to 20 millimeters (females) or 15 to 18 millimeters (males). The species has a black colored and yellow patterned body. Your petiolus and postpetiolus are strongly structured.
Occurrence
The species is distributed in North Africa and southern Europe, north to south of Switzerland and Vienna. Only two historical records are known from Germany. Probably only habitats with favorable temperatures are settled. The flight time is from the beginning of June to probably the end of July.
Way of life
The females lay their nests on stones. Coarse pebbles and clay are used for construction. Each cell is supplied with 5 to 20 caterpillars. The golden wasp species Stilbum calens is known as the cuckoo wasp .
