Katarina Juselius

Katarina Juselius (also Jusélius ; born September 25, 1943 ) is a Finnish economist . She is a professor emeritus at the University of Copenhagen .

Career

Juselius earned a master's degree in business administration from the Swedish School of Commerce in Helsinki in 1970 and a licentiate there in 1979 . She did her PhD there in 1983 with Johan Olof Fellmann with the work Seasonality in Dynamic Regression Models . From 1978 to 1985 she was director of the Research Institute of the Swedish School of Commerce in Helsinki before receiving her first professorship at the University of Copenhagen in 1986 . She has been a full professor there since 1997. Research stays took her to the London School of Economics and Political Science , the University of Aarhus , the University of California, San Diego , the Australian National University , the Bond University , the European Central Bank and in particular to the European University Institute in Florence (from 1996 to 2001 ). In 2014 she retired.

Her work with her husband, Søren Johansen, Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Inference on Cointegration is considered extremely influential. According to Google Scholar , it was cited around 16,000 times (as of September 2019). Juselius therefore (as of September 2019) has an h-index of 34. The Scopus database , on the other hand, gives its h-index as 18.

Since 2019 the media group Clarivate has counted her among the favorites for a Nobel Prize ( Clarivate Citation Laureates ) because of her contributions to econometrics and cointegration analysis and in particular the development of a cointegrated vector autoregressive method . The method offers a flexible framework for the analysis of short-term and long-term effects in economic time series analyzes .

Juselius was one of the editors of the following journals: Journal of Forecasting (1983–1985), International Journal of Forecasting (1985–1990), Journal of Business and Economics Statistics (1993–1998) and Journal of Economic Methodology (since 2003).

Katarina Juselius has been a Knight of the Dannebrog Order since 2011 . She has been a member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences since 2012 and of the Academia Europaea since 2015 .
