The Cathedral of St. Anthony of Padua in the Lithuanian city ​​of Telšiai is the Roman Catholic episcopal church of the Diocese of Telšiai .

history

The church, built in 1765 in the style of baroque and classicism , was elevated to the rank of cathedral with the establishment of the diocese in 1926 . It is the only two-story church in Lithuania. The church has 7 altars , 2 of which are central. The central altar on the upper level is dedicated to Anthony of Padua , one of the most important saints within the Franciscan order . The cathedral's crypt also serves as the burial place of the Telšiai bishops, 3 of whom are already buried here.
