Kathi Petersen (born March 24, 1956 in Völklingen ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She lives in Schweinfurt with her husband and two children.

Career

Petersen has been a city councilor in Schweinfurt since 2008 and third mayor since 2011. She ran for the mayoral election in 2010 and reached the runoff election, but was defeated by Sebastian Remelé (CSU), who won 63.39% of the voters. From 2008 to 2013 she was a district councilor in the Lower Franconian district council. In the 2013 state elections , she entered the Bavarian state parliament via the list in the Lower Franconia constituency .

education and profession

Petersen studied Catholic theology in Munich and Trier. From 1988 to 1998 she worked as a consultant for theology and senior work at the Evangelical Education Center in Schweinfurt, and from 1998 as a freelance employee representative for the Evangelical Dean's Office in Schweinfurt.

Activities in the state parliament

Petersen is a member of the Committee for Education and Culture and the Committee for Health and Care. Within the SPD parliamentary group, she is the chairwoman of the Church and SPD working group and development policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group.

Political offices

Petersen holds numerous offices in the SPD. She has been chairwoman of the SPD district association Schweinfurt Stadt and deputy chairwoman of the SPD Lower Franconia since 2002.

Social Commitment

Petersen has been chairwoman of the ver.di District Women's Council in Schweinfurt and a member of the ver.di District Board in Schweinfurt since 2002. In addition, she is a member of the Child Protection Association, the Kolping Family, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO), the Zürch Citizens' Association, the Schweinfurt Historical Association, the Friends of the Schweinfurt Wildlife Park, the Reading Cats and Chair of the Advisory Board of the Oskar Soldmann Foundation.
