The national bakery team is a team of bakers founded by the Central Association of the German Bakers' Trade in 2008 , whose members represent Germany in international baking competitions and take on representative tasks for the German bakery trade .

In 2008, the Presidium and the Board of Directors of the Central Association of the German Bakers' Trade decided to appoint a national team in order to be more professional than before in international baking competitions and to represent the German bakery trade. By winning various competitions, more people qualified for the national baker team in the following years , as detailed below. In 2018 the national team was downsized and rejuvenated.

Organization and team management

The national bakery team is headed by a member of the executive committee of the Central Association of the German Bakers' Trade as team leader. Until 2008 this was master baker Michael Wippler from Dresden . Wolfgang Schäfer from Rodgau has been taking on the task since 2009 . The team leader has the authority to decide which competitions and events are attended and which team members compete there. The team leader appoints a team captain from among the active members to lead the team in competitions. This has been Siegfried Brenneis since it was founded.

The Akademie Deutsches Bäckerhandwerk Weinheim is entrusted with the task of organization, administration and training . The coach of the national bakery team is Bernd Kütscher , director of the academy. Heino Scharfscheer, employee of the Central Association of the German Bakers' Trade, supports the administration.

Since it was founded, members of the national bakery team have been active in France , Austria , Italy , Russia and Japan , as well as at numerous events in Germany . a. several times at the International Green Week Berlin , on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection .

The team members usually appear as a team of 2 to 4 people, depending on the requirements. In international baking competitions, it is also customary for one (additional) person from each participating country to be part of the jury, who is then made up of international members. In doing so, your own country may not be rated. Sometimes, based on their experience, members of the national bakery team are also asked to serve as jury members for third-party baking competitions. a. has been the team's coach since 2017 and has been the jury president of the UIBC World Bakers and Confectioners Association for the Youth Bakers' World Cup.

The national bakery team also provides the jury for the German championship of master bakers, which has been held every 3 years at the world's largest baker's trade fair iba since 2009 .
