Catholic data protection center

The Catholic Data Protection Center is a public corporation based in Dortmund . It was established by the archdioceses and dioceses of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on August 20, 2015 to ensure a data protection standard comparable to the state sector . The Catholic Data Protection Center carries out church data protection supervision on the basis of the church data protection regulations applicable to the member dioceses, in particular the law on church data protection (KDG) in the version applicable to the member diocese. At the same time, this is intended to ensure that the responsible church bodies within the meaning of the KDG have taken sufficient data protection measures.

The head of the Catholic Data Protection Center has been the lawyer Steffen Pau since September 1, 2016. Pau is also the diocesan data protection officer for the dioceses of Aachen , Essen , Cologne , Münster (North Rhine-Westphalian part) and Paderborn . The official seal of the data protection center shows St. Ivo Hélory , patron saint of lawyers.
