Katja Oldenburg-Schmidt

Katja Oldenburg-Schmidt (* 1959 in Pinneberg ) is a German administrative officer and local politician (independent). Since November 1, 2014 she has been the mayor of the Hanseatic city of Buxtehude ( Lower Saxony ).

Education and professional career

After graduating from high school, Oldenburg-Schmidt studied law at the universities of Hamburg and Freiburg . She was also a research assistant at the finance department at the University of Hamburg. After completing her studies, she worked in the environmental authority of the city of Hamburg and then took over the law and order resort in the city of Buxtehude in 1992. From 1994 she was the managing director of the company that marketed the Estetal barracks.

Political career

In 2009 she was elected by the Buxtehude City Council as "First City Councilor".

On May 25, 2014, she was elected mayor of Buxtehude with 59.6%. She took office on November 1, 2014. Their term of office is seven years.

Oldenburg-Schmidt announced in 2019 that she wanted to run again in 2021.

Private

Oldenburg-Schmidt is married and has a daughter.
