Katlego Mashego (born May 18, 1982 in Bushbuckridge ) is a South African football player .
Club career
Mashego made his debut in the 2001/02 season for Hellenic FC in the Premier Soccer League . It has not yet been possible to determine whether he continued to play at Hellenic or worked for a lower-class club. From 2004 to 2006 he played for the Silver Stars in the top South African league and then moved to Supersport United .
At Supersport United, the striker often only came on as a substitute, but still managed a respectable goal rate and earned one after scoring all four of his team's goals in a 4-2 win against Moroka Swallows after his substitution on May 10, 2008 Reputation as a super sub . A week later, Supersport became South African champions for the first time in the club's history. In January 2009, he left Supersport and moved to league rivals Orlando Pirates . In his league debut just a few days after the transfer, he scored his first goal for Orlando. At the end of the season they missed the championship title because of the worse goal difference compared to his ex-club Supersport.
National team
Mashego was first used in May 2006 in a friendly against Lesotho in the South African national team. In the following period he was appointed to the national team at irregular intervals, and in May 2009 national coach Joel Santana nominated him for the provisional squad for the Confederations Cup .
