Ring-tailed lemur
Kattas Welt is a book series that was launched in 2016 and was designed by the tour operator schauinsland-Reisen to inspire children between the ages of four and eleven to discover new worlds and cultures. In the illustrated books, the half-monkey ring-tailed lemur and his friends Ingo Flamingo and Adele Shrimp travel around the globe and get to know distant countries.
The cross-media concept has a website of the same name on which interesting facts about travel are presented in a playful and child-friendly way. Since January 2018, "Kattas Welt" has also included a music album that was created in collaboration with the German children's and pop singer Markus Becker .
history
The half-monkey ring-tailed lemur appears as the mascot of the Duisburg tour operator schauinsland-Reisen in order to market offers for families and children. In the summer of 2016, the mascot "Katta" not only got a new look, but also two friends: Ingo Flamingo and Adele Garnele.
At the same time, Volume 1 of the book series "Kattas Welt" appeared, in which Katta sets off on a world tour. Over a dozen illustrated stories have been published since then. Katta and his friends have toured Mallorca, Bulgaria and Egypt in them.
With the affiliated website and the children's music album “Kattas Welt. A musical journey with Katta and his friends ”the cross-media offer was gradually expanded.
Characters
The focus of the stories from “Kattas Welt” is the half-monkey Katta and his two animal friends Ingo Flamingo and Adele Shrimp. Ring-tailed lemurs are particularly characterized by their thirst for adventure. Sitting still does not suit him. He's always discovering something new. However, he has never left his homeland, the fictional island of Kattagascar. This changes when he meets Ingo Flamingo.
Ingo is an experienced traveler who plans all his trips with great care and leaves nothing to chance. With his spontaneous nature, Katta Ingo Flamingos often confuses plans.
The trio is completed by Adele Shrimp. There is hardly a country that the native Spaniard has not yet visited. That's why Adele has many stories to tell that Katta and Ingo love to listen to. In their stories, the three friends repeatedly meet local companions who familiarize them with local sights and customs.
With his childlike curiosity, Katta acts as a proxy for all young readers. You can identify with the little lemur and discover the world through its eyes.

On January 19th, 2018 the children's music album “Kattas Welt. A musical journey with Katta and his friends. ”In the following week the CD entered the German album charts at number 29. It was even able to temporarily conquer number 1 on the children's charts. The 13 songs on the CD were created in collaboration with the German children's and pop singer Markus Becker and the singer and musical actress Judith Lefeber .
The track "Kutchiä, Kutchio" was released in advance as a single and received an animated music video in which Katta and his friends play the leading role.
The music from the chart album also forms the basis for the children's musical "Katta - The Journey to the Shining Banana", which premiered in July 2018 in the Duisburg Theater am Marientor . In the stage show, Katta and his friends travel to the "shining banana" in the sky. The characters are brought to life by the acrobatics group “Die Fliegende Homberger” and various speakers. Among other things, football expert Reiner Calmund lends his voice.

"Kattas Welt" is a cross-media offer with educational requirements that now includes a book series, an online portal and a music album.
The aim is to playfully inspire children between the ages of four and eleven to travel. “Kattas Welt” aims to familiarize them with other countries, their cultures and customs, and promote values such as tolerance and openness to the world.
