Katzberg (mountain range)
The Katzberg is 230 m above sea level. NN high, partly wooded hill in the Deister-Süntel valley , which belongs to the Calenberger Bergland . The collection is located in Lower Saxony in Hanover region between Bad mouths and Altenhagen I . The federal road 217 passes to the south . The Hanover – Altenbeken railway runs north around the Katzberg .
The Katzberg is built from Jurassic rock with a hill made from Wealden sandstone . Due to the coniferous forest and the undulating meadows, the elevation gives the impression of being an alpine pasture .
The origin of the name of the hill cannot be clearly explained. According to one interpretation, the name could be derived from the landowning family "Katz", who lived here for centuries. According to a further interpretation, the name could be borrowed from Middle High German and stand for "Little Beihut", which refers to a small children's table , also known as a cat table .
