Cat's tongue (chocolate)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cat's tongues made from milk and dark chocolate (Sarotti)

Cat tongues are a chocolate candy about five to eight centimeters long that vaguely resemble the shape of a cat 's tongue . They are available in milk chocolate as well as dark chocolate and white chocolate . They are similar in shape to ladyfingers , also known as cat's tongue ( langue-de-chat ) in French .

Cat tongues were made before 1900; They also became known through the confectionery of Emil Gerbeaud , the owner of the Budapest Café Gerbeaud . The Austrian company Küfferle (now owned by Lindt & Sprüngli ) claims to have been producing them since 1892. In Germany, cat tongues are sold by companies such as Sarotti , Hachez , Halloren and Waldbaur Feine Schokoladen GmbH .
