List of breeds of chicken

The Kaulhuhn is a breed of chicken that is phenotypically reminiscent of a small Italian with no tail. The Kaulhuhn also shares many other characteristics with the Italian: For example, it is considered a very good layer; however, its brood yield is significantly reduced in comparison with other chicken breeds.

Appearance

The most noticeable feature of the cow hen is the lack of any tail in either sex. This is due to the fact that the entire caudal spine, including feathers and preen glands , is absent. This trait is inherited in a dominant manner , so that in every breeding of chewers there are always tailed animals. In affected animals may experience difficulties in because of the lack of balance effect of the tail copulation come. The lack of the preening gland also leads to problems with plumage care.

Despite their light type, chickens are very calm animals that quickly become trusting. The rump of a cow is roughly cylindrical with rounded shapes at the front and back and is carried almost horizontally. This includes a wide, deep and full chest as well as a full, wide belly. the back is moderately long and hardly drops because of the horizontal position. On the rooster, the saddle shows a strong spring formation over the rounded rear part. The body of the chickens stands on medium-high stands of slate blue to black in color. The neck is also of medium length. The head is also not required to be excessively large. A simple standing comb with regular teeth sits on the rooster head. In the case of the hen, the comb may be placed at the rear end. The wattles are deep red and rather thin. the pure white, round ear discs create a fine contrast.

Opinions are divided about the brutality. Some claim that rattles are breeding almost all the time, while others claim that they are seldom inclined to breed naturally. What is certain is that the breeding yield and rearing success in rash chickens are significantly reduced compared to tailed chicken breeds due to the problems resulting from their taillessness. Under the German Animal Welfare Act, the conscious breeding of tailless chickens is prohibited as torture breeding .

With the dwarf Kaulhuhn also a recognized Bantam breed exists.
