Kay Goldsworthy

Kay Maree Goldsworthy AO (* 1956 in Melbourne ) is an Australian bishop of the Anglican Church of Australia .

Life

After finishing school, Goldsworthy studied Anglican theology . In 1992 Goldsworthy was ordained an Anglican priestess. Goldsworthy was ordained Assistant Bishop on May 22, 2008 at St. George's Cathedral , Perth . She was the first woman to become a bishop in the Anglican Church of Australia. Previously, women had been ordained as Anglican bishops in Canada , the United States, and New Zealand since 1989 . From 2915 to 2018 she was diocesan bishop in the diocese of Gippsland . In February 2018, Goldsworthy was consecrated as the successor of Roger Herft as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Perth .

Goldsworthy is married.
