The Kayabi , also Kaiabi, Kajabi, Kayaby, Caiabi, Cajabi , are an indigenous people in Brazil in the states of Mato Grosso , mainly in Parque Indígena do Xingu , which is not part of their traditional settlement area, and partly in southern Pará on the Teles rivers Pires and Rio Tatuí .

The total number of members of the Tupi or Tupí-Guaraní speaking people in 1999 was one thousand. The number of illiterate people is high.

The origin of the people's proper name is unclear. It is possible that it means something similar to “ourselves”.

The Kayabi had been exposed to the threat of land grabbing by rubber tappers since the 1950s and were thus divided into three groups.
