Kazuo Yoshimura

Kazuo Yoshimura ( Japanese 吉 村 和 郎 , Yoshimura Kazuo ; * July 6, 1951 ) is a former Japanese judoka . In 1973 he was third in the world championship in the light middleweight division, the weight class up to 70 kilograms.

At the 1973 World Championships in Lausanne, Kazuo Yoshimura was only defeated by the eventual world champion Toyokazu Nomura in the semifinals, while he was able to defeat the later second Dietmar Hötger from the GDR and the French Patrick Vial in the course of the tournament. In 1976 Yoshimura won the Kodokan Cup.

In 1977 he resigned after the reform of the weight classes at lightweight in the weight category up to 71 kg. At the Japanese championships in 1977 he won his only title against Noriyoshi Gotanda . In 1976, 1978 and 1979 he took second place. In 1978 he won the first Jigoro Kano Cup , and in 1979 Yoshimura won the Tournoi de Paris .
