Kazuya Kawabata ( Japanese 河 端 和 哉 Kawabata Kazuya ; born October 22, 1981 in Hokkaido ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Kawabata learned to play soccer on the school team at Aomori Yamada High School and the university team at Sapporo University . He signed his first contract in 2003 with Consadole Sapporo . The club played in the second highest league in the country, the J2 League . He played two league games for the club. In 2005 he moved to Rosso Kumamoto (today: Roasso Kumamoto). In 2007 he was runner-up with the club in the Japan Football League and rose to the J2 League. For the club he completed 72 league games. In 2010 he moved to league rivals Giravanz Kitakyushu . For the club he completed 21 league games. In 2012 he moved to third division club V-Varen Nagasaki . In 2012 he was with the club champion of the Japan Football League and rose to the J2 League. For the club he completed 28 league games. In July 2013 he moved to the third division club FC Ryūkyū . He then played for ReinMeer Aomori FC . At the end of 2017 he ended his career as a football player.
