Keisuke Tsuboi ( Japanese 坪井 慶 介 , Tsuboi Keisuke ; born September 16, 1979 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player .
Career
society
Tsuboi began his career in 2002 as a defender with the Urawa Red Diamonds , for whom he still plays. Tsuboi didn't start his professional career until the age of 23, as he first wanted to graduate from university. He is a fixture in the Reds defense and a rising star on the Japanese national team . What stands out is that Tsuboi did not receive a single yellow card in 30 games in his first professional season.
In 2002 he was voted J. League Best Young Player and received the J. League Fair Play Award . In 2003 he was elected to the Best XI (the team of the best players of the past season). For the Urawa Reds he has so far completed 101 league games (1 goal) (as of the end of the 2005 season). In 2004 and 2005 he was runner-up with the Reds . On New Years Day 2006 he was able to win the Japanese Imperial Cup with the Reds .
National team
He has been playing for the Japanese national team since the end of 2002 , but it wasn't until 2003 that he made his first international appearance against Paraguay. Tsuboi was in the squad of the Confederations Cup 2003 and the Confederations Cup 2005 . In 2003 he played all games there, but in 2005 he only sat on the bench. At the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Tsuboi was also part of the Japanese team and replaced the injured Makoto Tanaka in his position. He played two World Cup games (against Australia and Brazil).
Since 2002 he has played 40 international matches.
