Keith Joseph Andrews (born September 13, 1980 in Dublin ) is a former Irish football player and current coach.

Career

As a club player

Andrews began his football training at the Wolverhampton Wanderers boarding school . There he received his first professional contract for the English second division in 1999. After just a year at the club, the midfielder was loaned out to Oxford United , where he scored once in four games in 2000. After two more years with Wanderers, he was loaned to Stoke City in 2003 , from where he joined FC Walsall in 2004 . In 2005 his contract in Wolverhampton ran out and Andrews moved to Hull City , where he played a total of 29 games until 2006. Surprisingly, he moved to fourth division Milton Keynes Dons in 2006 , where he was part of the squad as a regular from the start and scored 18 goals in 76 games.

In 2008 Andrews came back to the Premier League and received a three-year contract with Blackburn Rovers . In 2011 he was awarded to Ipswich Town for one season . In 2012 he moved to West Bromwich Albion . In the same year, however, he left the club again and moved to the Bolton Wanderers , where he was only part of the squad for one season before his 2015 after three seasons with loan stations such as Brighton & Hove Albion , Watford FC and Milton Keynes Dons active career ended.

As a national player

For the first time internationally Andrews played in 1996 for the Irish U-17 national team. In November 2008 he made his debut for the Irish senior team . By 2012 he played 35 international matches in which he scored three goals.

As a trainer

After retiring from his career, Andrews was a member of the Milton Keynes Dons coaching staff from August 2015 under head coach Karl Robinson . After the club's relegation from the Football League Championship , he ended his engagement there in May 2016. In January 2019, Stephen Kenny appointed him alongside Jim Crawford as one of two co-coaches for the Irish U-21 national team.
