Kelvin Martin

Kelvin Darnell Martin (born July 24, 1964 in the Bronx , New York City ; died October 24, 1987 in Brooklyn ), also known as "50 Cent", was an American criminal. Martin served as inspiration for the name of the US rapper 50 Cent .

Life

Martin was born in the Bronx in 1964 and later moved to Brooklyn. There are two legends about the origin of his nickname "50 Cent": According to one, Martin assaulted every person he met, regardless of how much money they carried with them. In the other version, he won $ 500 on a dice game on a stake of just 50 cents. Martin was also connected to CC, an Ottawa gang. His name could also come from his physique - he weighed only 54 kg with a height of 157 cm.

Martin was shot on the stairs in his girlfriend's house on October 20, 1987, and died four days later. He was buried in the Silver Mount Cemetery . Julio Acevedo was sentenced to prison for manslaughter.
