Fafa Sanyang

Fafa Sanyang (* 20th century) is a politician in the West African state of Gambia . Since April 2017 he has been Minister of Petroleum and Energy in the Adama Barrow cabinet .

Life

Sanyang received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology from the University of Sierra Leone and a Master of Science (MSc) in Marine Management from Dalhousie University , Canada in 1997 . He also received a master's degree in engineering geology from the University of Leeds , United Kingdom.

Sanyang had been director of the geological department since 1993 and then worked in the Gambian oil ministry as commissioner for oil from 2006. In mid-2016 he was suspected of corruption along with a number of other senior ministry officials.

On April 10, 2017, Sanyang was appointed to the cabinet of President Adama Barrow after the department had been vacant since he took office in late January. On April 14th was sworn in office.

He is a member of the Geological Society of London and the Geological Society of Africa .
