Ken Dancy

Kenneth "Ken" Dancy (born September 28, 1958 in Chicago ) is a former American - French basketball player .

career

The 1.98-meter-tall winger was a member of the college teams of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock ( NCAA , 1976 to 1978) and Chicago State University ( NAIA , 1979/80) in his home country . For the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, he scored 44 points in a game in February 1977, which was the second best value that a player at the college had achieved up to then. Dancy came in the 1977/78 season on an average of 19.8 points per encounter. During his year at Chicago State University, he was named to the NAIA's All-America Second Team. In the draft proceedings of the NBA  in 1980, the rights to Dancy went to the Washington Bullets , who decided in the sixth selection round in 127th place for the winger.

The jump into the NBA did not succeed Dancy, in the 1980/81 season he played in the US league CBA for the Lehigh Valley Jets. He then moved to France and played there until the end of his professional career. After two years with the Paris club Le Stade Français (1981 to 1983), the stations Étendard de Brest (1983/84), Caen BC (1984/85), Le Stade Français (1985/86) and Tours BC (1986 to 1988) followed ). During his time in Tours, Dancy took French citizenship. In the 1987/88 season he scored 20.9 points per encounter in the French league. In 1988 he moved to Limoges and became French champions with CSP in 1989 and 1990, runners-up in 1991 and third in the European Cup in 1990 . He achieved his best value in Limoges in league operations in 1989/90 with 13.6 points per game.

From 1991 to 1997 he played for the first division Montpellier Basket (interrupted by a stop at the Castelnau club in the 1994/95 season), 1997/98 for the second division Maurienne and then at Étoile Filante de Bastia (1998 to 2000, partly player-coach). In the course of his career, he played two international matches for France. After the end of his playing career, he worked as a coach and referee, and in 2011 he became the sports director of Pérols Basket.
