Ken Rolston
Ken Rolston (* 20th century), actually Kenneth Rolston , is an American author and role-playing game and computer game developer.
Career
Ken Rolston studied at New York University , where he graduated with a Masters . Rolston's passion for role-playing games began in 1975 when he was creating his own adventures for friends and family. In addition to private role-play modifications, his professional pen & paper oeuvre includes Paranoia , RuneQuest , Warhammer Fantasy RPG , Dungeons & Dragons as well as Advanced Dungeons & Dragons and Star Wars . He also wrote various articles for Dragon Magazine . He has been a member of the Science Fiction Writers Association since 1982 . He received the 1984 HG Wells Award for the role-playing game Paranoia .
After twenty years of role-playing experience, he joined Bethesda Softworks for the title An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire (1997) . As lead, concept and quest designer at Bethesda Softworks for The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (2002) and its extensions Bloodmoon and Tribunal , he was next to Todd Howard as the driving force behind the Elder Scrolls universe . For the follow-up title The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006) he worked as lead designer and left Bethesda Softworks after it was completed.
In 2007 he became lead designer for the title Ascendant of the developer studio Big Huge Games , which was converted into the role-playing game Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning after the studio was taken over by 38 studios and published in February 2012. After 38 Studios went bankrupt , Ken Rolston joined Turbine, Inc. in 2012.
Trivia
In the role-playing game Morrowind , Ken Rolston was installed by colleagues at Bethesda Softworks as the characters Socucius Ergalla (top agent of the census and tax office) and "Admiral Rolston" (only to be found via the console in the "Toddtest" cell) without his knowledge .
In addition to his passion for role-playing games, Ken Rolston is an avid folk singer and composer with his wife Pat .
