Kenji Komata ( Japanese 古 俣 健 次 , Komata Kenji ; born July 15, 1964 in Niigata Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .
Career
Komata learned to play soccer on the school team at Niigata Technical High School and the university team at Osaka University of Commerce . He signed his first contract in 1987 with Yamaha Motors (today: Júbilo Iwata). The club played in the highest league in the country, the Japan Soccer League . With the club he became Japanese champion in 1987/88 . In 1989 he reached the final of the JSL Cup and Kaiserpokal . In 1993 he was runner-up with the club in the Japan Football League and rose to the J1 League . In 1994 he reached the final of the J.League Cup . For the club he completed 112 games. In 1996 he moved to Albireo Niigata (today: Albirex Niigata). At the end of 1998 he ended his career as a football player.
