Kenneth B. Wagener

Kenneth B. Wagener (* 1950 ; also Ken Wagener ) is an American biochemist and polymer chemist ( LADME ).

Life

Ken Wagener received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Clemson University and his PhD in biochemistry and polymer chemistry from the University of Florida . From 1973 to 1984 he initially worked for Akzo Nobel in the field of developing membranes for kidney dialysis and micro- polyolefin membranes.

In 1984 he became an associate professor at the University of Florida; In 1998, he received a call to the "George B. Butler" -Stiftungsprofessur of Polymer Chemistry at the University of Florida. He is director of the "Center for Macromolecular Science and Engineering".

Among other things, Wagener is an advisor to the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and other US government organizations. He has published numerous academic papers and books. He is a member of five international specialist editorial teams in the field of polymer chemistry.

He won several prizes such as the “American Chemical Society Florida Award” (ACS 2003) and was named “Teacher of the Year”. He received the Japan Society for the Progress of Science (JSPS) Fellowship. In 2013 he received the Herman F. Mark Division of Polymer Chemistry Award , for 2021 he was awarded the ACS Award in Polymer Chemistry .
