Kenneth O. Boulton

Kenneth O. Boulton (* 1962 in Seattle ) is an American pianist and music teacher.

Boulton studied piano at Washington State University (Bachelor) with David Veomans and at the University of Maryland, College Park (Master and PhD) with Nelita True and Thomas Schumacher . He then taught at Shippensburg University and West Chester University, as well as at the Wilmington Music School. He is Professor of Piano and Interim Dean of the Fine and Performing Arts Department at Southeastern Louisiana University . In 2003 he headed the International Summer Music Institute at Transylvania University in Brasov, and in 2006 he was a special guest at the National Yamaha Convention in Washington.

Boulton's specialty is contemporary music. He gives lectures and workshops on modern piano music for students, and his debut CD, which was released by Naxos in 1998 , contained Elie Siegmeister's most important compositions for solo piano. After the album's success, Naxos released works by the composer William Mason with him . With the cellist Ovidiu Marinescu , Boulton recorded works by Nikolai Mjaskowski and the album Fiesta Latina . The CD American Lyrique was created in collaboration with clarinetist Karen Dannessa . For the 2007 Cambria Master Recordings album Louisiana - A Pianist's Journey , Boulton was nominated for a Grammy for best instrumental soloist. With Leonard Lehrman he authored the book Elie Siegmeister, American Composer: A Bio-Bibliography .
