Kenya Television Network ( KTN ) is a Kenyan television station based in Nairobi . The station started in March 1990.

history

After its start in 1990, KTN broadcast programs from CNN International, MTV Europe and other European, American and Australian TV channels as well as TV channels from other African countries. KTN started as a pilot project for a 24-hour subscription television station in Nairobi and the surrounding area. However, plans to encrypt the signal were abandoned and KTN earned its income from advertising and television production services for most of the 1990s. The company founded by Jared Kangwana was selected by London-based Maxwell Communications, the South African MNET and the then ruling party Kenya African National Union (KANU) as bidder for participation. The station won the bid for the 1992 Summer Olympics as well as the rights to several other international events.

In May 2015, the sister channel KTN News Kenya started .
