Karyopyknosis

Karyopyknosis means the shrinking of the cell nucleus and compression of the chromatin into a uniform mass. Pycnosis is a sign of apoptosis , programmed cell death.

In the gynecological Cytodiagnosis gives Karyopyknoseindex the numerical ratio between karyopyknotischen cells of the vaginal - epithelium and those with sheetlike core at. It is used for cycle assessment .
