Kerry O'Brien

Kerry Dennis O'Brien (born April 17, 1946 in Port Augusta , South Australia ) is a former Australian athlete and world record holder.

In 1966, Kerry O'Brien won silver in the 3,000-meter obstacle course at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games . At the 1968 Olympic Games , he was fourth. On July 4, 1970, O'Brien set a world record in Berlin with 8: 22.0. Two and a half weeks later, he fell on the penultimate moat in the final of the Commonwealth Games. At the Olympic Games in 1972 he lost a shoe in the run-up to the last lap, whereupon he gave up in front of the moat. From 1966 to 1973 he won seven Australian championship titles in the obstacle course.

Kerry O'Brien ended his career in 1973. With a height of 1.80 m, his competition weight was 70 kg.
