Driven by greed, striving for power and a fateful passion for gambling, the large farmer Georg Kery becomes more and more entangled in a network of criminal machinations and surrenders himself to the violence of unscrupulous smuggler kings. The courageous resistance of his daughter Gisela and the courage of his servant Berthold (in the novel: Ludwig) save the farmer from complete ruin.

Performances

Review of the 2012 performance

“The actors put the play about 'Liebe, Hass und Schwirz'n' back on stage that evening in such a way that the audience then applauded for minutes. This is not only due to the optimally cast and played leading roles around Gisela, Berthold, Kery and Osec, but also to the performance of the entire ensemble. The audience in the rather dark piece - not least because of the mood created by the lighting - also has something to laugh about, especially when there are many actors on stage. Whether in the May dance, in which the band (Markus Hofmann, Lorenz Lang, Max Weiß, Christin Schreiner, Teresa Zemmler and Kornelia Bachl-Adler) also plays an active role in the piece, or in the first appearance of Stefan Osec as a clumsy guy - the Servants' comments are always good for laughs.

After the premiere, the participants and guests of honor were invited to the opening ceremony in the Pallas of the castle ruins, where the very successful start of the festival season at Lichtenegg Castle was duly celebrated. "
