The boiler sump is a small lake in a sinkhole about 2.7 km northwest of Herzberg am Harz in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony . The lake has a diameter of about 60 m and is located in the Lüderholz forest area within a landscape conservation area. The lake with no inflow or outflow is located on the karst hiking trail and is surrounded by numerous smaller sinkholes.
