Demonstration of the forging process

In the chain forge museum in the Warsteiner district of Sichtigvor , the manual production of chains is shown, as it used to be done by chain smiths. It is a replica of a small home smithy, which was often operated as a main or sideline from 1840 to 1970 by residents of Sichtigvor and other places in the Möhne valley .

The building was built in 1984 by the Mülheim parish work group for homeland maintenance with two functioning meals . In 1990 a water wheel was installed. In contrast to the historical models that drove the bellows of the forging furnaces, it has been lighting the house with the help of a direct current generator since 1997 . For three years, the museum was expanded from 26 m² to 45 m² and reopened on October 11, 2008.
