Springview is located in northern Nebraska, about 20 kilometers south of the South Dakota border . The location is at the intersection of US Highway 183 and Nebraska State Route 12 . The Niobrara River runs about 20 kilometers south .

history

Springview, named after a source in the local area, was created shortly after it was decided on November 4, 1884 that the parts of Brown County that were north of the Niobrara River should belong to a new county - Keya Paha County. On March 24, 1885, the place was chosen because of its central location to the county seat. In July of the same year, the place received a post office and a courthouse was completed in 1886. Today's weekly Springview Herald has its roots in Keya Paha Press, founded in 1885 . Since a connection to the railway network had a considerable influence on the development of the places, plans emerged in 1909 to connect the cities of Valentine , Springview, Jamison and Naper with each other, but they were not implemented. The Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley Railroad expanded their network about 30 kilometers south of the town.

The former schoolhouse of the high school, which was founded in 1913 and moved to a new building in 1964, now houses the Keya Paha County Historical Museum . In 1914, the simple wooden construction of the court house was replaced by a more modern building that still serves as a court building today.
