Kettly Noël

Kettly Noël (* 1968 in Port-au-Prince ) is a Haitian dancer , choreographer and actress .

Kettly Noël wants to free African dance from tradition and reinvent it as contemporary dance. Her first choreographed piece, Nanlakou , premiered in 1995. The duet Tichèlbe (2002) won both the Rencontres Choreographiques d'Afrique et d'océan India and the RFI Radio France Danse Award 2004 . Noël founded the Dense Bamako Danse dance festival in Bamako .

In 2017 she took part in Documenta 14 with Zombification . In 2017 she was awarded the Order Chevalier des Arts et Lettres .

In 2014 Noël played the crazy Zabou in Abderrahmane Sissako's film Timbuktu .
