Kevin Conneff (born January 8, 1945 in Dublin ) is the singer of the Irish band " The Chieftains ".

Before Conneff was hired by Paddy Moloney in 1976 to replace the outgoing bodhran player Peadar Mercier with the Chieftains, he was part of an open group of musicians and singers who ran a traditional music club in Dublin, the Traditional Club at Slattery's. With Kevin, the Chieftains had also brought an excellent singer on board, so that from now on at least one song from their own ranks appeared on almost all albums. Kevin particularly likes to sing in the traditional sean-nós style, i.e. H. without musical accompaniment. Kevin appears for the first time on the album "Chieftains 6", but initially as a bodhran player. His singing can be heard for the first time on "Chieftains 9".

Kevin Conneff has only recorded one solo album in all these years, and that is

  • The week before easter (1988) - partly live, partly in the studio (with guest musicians)
