Kevin Brooks Eastman (born May 30, 1962 in Springvale, Maine ) is an American comic artist . He became known as co-producer (together with his partner Peter Laird ) and creator of the world-famous series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , which was often referred to as Hero Turtles in Europe . He has been the editor of the American science fiction and fantasy comic magazine Heavy Metal since 1991 . He was also the owner of the magazine until it was sold to music manager David Kastenbaum and film producer Jeff Krelitz in 2014.

Eastman was married to actress Julie Strain, who is known from B-movies and erotic films, from 1995 to 2008 and has a son named Shane (* 2007) with her. Eastman himself worked alongside his wife in several films as an actor and producer. As a screenwriter he was involved in the comic book adaptation Heavy Metal: FAKK² .

On June 1, 2000, Eastman gave his last ownership of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to his former partner Peter Laird and the Mirage Group. From there he only continued to draw a tiny share of the marketing profit from the Turtles, but on March 1, 2008 he was finally and completely bought out of all rights. With the new edition of the comic series by IDW Publishing in 2011, Kevin Eastman returned to the creative TMNT team and also participated directly in the script and graphic design of the comic series published there.

He currently lives in the Hollywood Hills with his second wife and son.
