history

Idea and Design Works, LLC was founded in 1999 by a group of entrepreneurs and artists to develop publications related to video games , films, and television series. In addition to the comic publisher IDW Publishing , which emerged from this, the group has included the film publisher IDW Entertainment since 2013 and the games publisher IDW Games since 2014 . As early as 2002, the then young publisher was able to achieve international recognition by winning two Spectrum Awards for Ashley Woods Popbot . In 2007 the series 30 Days of Night was filmed by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith and directed by David Slade . Since 2010, IDW has regularly received Eisner and Harvey Awards, particularly for the Richard Stark's Parker series by the late illustrator and author Darwyn Cooke . In 2012, IDW attracted attention with the first edition of their new series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic , as they were in the month of release with over 100,000 pre-orders before the releases of the competitors from Marvel and DC. For the series Zombies vs. Robots by Ashley Wood and Chris Ryall, a film adaptation is planned to be directed by Andrew Adamson to be produced by Michael Bay alongside IDW .
