Life and work

Ramos learned the drawing trade in the early 1990s as a student of Oscar González Guerrero and his son Oscar González Loyo . As a result, he appeared on various occasions as a guest at US comic fairs. At the San Diego Comic-Con in 1993 he was finally hired through the mediation of Walt Simonson by the publisher Milestone Media , for which he presented his first work for the US market from 1994.

In 1995, Ramos joined DC Comics as the illustrator of the hilarious adventure series Impulse (# 1-25), written by star author Mark Waid , a spin-off of the long-lived superhero series Flash .

Together with Joe Madureira and J. Scott Campbell, Ramos brought the Cliffhanger imprint of Image Verlag to life in 1998, through which the three and other artists published their own projects that they did not want to run in the program of the major American publishers in order to obtain the rights to be able to reserve these for yourself. Ramos published on the cliffhanger imprint for almost two years - from 1999 to 2001 - the series Crimson , which he had devised and designed himself , which had 24 issues plus two one-shots .

This was followed by the series Out There , which reached eighteen editions (2001-2003), as well as work on various series about the superhero Spider-Man: With # 30 he took over the job of cover artist for Peter Parker: Spider-Man and from # 44 (2002) also the job of the draftsman responsible for the design of the inside of the magazine (# 44–47). He then worked on the newly created series The Spectacular Spider-Man (# 1–10, 17–18), an engagement for which he was nominated for the 2005 Harvey Award for Best Cover Artist. Also in 2005, Dark Horse released the six-part miniseries Revelations , created by Ramos

In 2006, Ramos took over the drawings for Marvel Comics' superhero classic Wolverine (# 42-48) for which he illustrated stories written by Marc Guggenheim . For the French publisher Solei Productions, however, Ramos produced drawings for a series of 46-page comic albums under the title K , which were written by the French author Crisse .
