Kevin Welch (born August 17, 1955 in Long Beach , California ) is an American country singer.

Kevin Welch grew up in Oklahoma . He toured with various bands as a teenager before moving to Nashville in 1978 to work as a songwriter. Established country singers like Ricky Skaggs , Steve Earle or Don Williams used his material. At the same time he was active in the local club scene with his band - The Overtones . His notoriety grew and he was awarded a recording deal with Warner Brothers in 1988 .

In 1990 the album Kevin Welch was recorded and two years later Western Beat . Both albums were of exceptional quality, received high critical reviews, but did not sell very well. Warner Brothers then released Welch from the contract.

In 1994 he founded the label Dead Reckoning Records with his long-time companion Kieran Kane as well as Tammy Rogers , Michael Henderson and Harry Stinson . The following year, Life Down Here On Earth and in 1999 Beneath My Wheels were produced. The majority of the songs came from Kevin Welch himself. In 2002, the album Millionaire was recorded together with some Danish musicians .

Kevin Welch's music was too far removed from the mainstream to appeal to a mass audience. But his songs were still in demand.
