The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is a butterfly zoo located at 1316 Duval Street in Key West , Florida .

In total, butterflies of 50 to 60 different species live here in a climate-controlled glass house with constant temperatures and the necessary high humidity. Furthermore, it has numerous tropical plants, waterfalls, trees and various other microorganisms. Over 20 butterfly-friendly bird species also live here, such as various types of canaries , zebra finches or various types of quail and flamingos , but also fish and reptiles such as turtles . The Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory is also home to a learning center where visitors can get up close and personal with a variety of different caterpillars . Centrally located in the middle of the glass house is a white pavilion with seating. In the two-storey main building there is not only the learning center mentioned above, but also the gift and souvenir shop and the toilets. In their own gallery, called Wings of Imagination, there are various works by the local artist Sam Trophia, who founded the Conservatory and the Trophia Butterfly Foundation with their Trophia Butterfly Foundation Garden together with George Fernandez in 2003 .

Like the numerous other zoos in Florida, the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory and the animals living in it had to be protected from Hurricane Irma in September 2017.
