Khairabad is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .
The city is part of the Sitapur district . Khairabad has the status of a Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 25 wards . It had a total of 48,538 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 25,325 were men and 23,213 women. Muslims form the largest group of the city's population with a share of over 70%, followed by Hindus with over 28%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 64.98% and thus well below the national average.
