Khairpur was a princely state of British India in what is now the Pakistani province of Sindh . The Principality was 1783 ruling by Sohrab Khan from a collateral line of Are belutschistanischen Talpur - dynasty , which until 1813 under the sovereignty of Afghanistan was founded. Khairpur was a British protectorate from 1838 to 1947 . In 1891 the emirate had an area of 15,822 km² and a population of 128,600.
When the British granted Pakistan independence in 1947 , Khairpur became sovereign and joined Pakistan. On October 14, 1955, the emirate was dissolved. It initially belonged to the province of West Pakistan; In 1970 the area came to the newly formed Province of Sind ( written as Sindh since 1990 ).
