Khamtrül Rinpoche ( Tib. Khams sprul rin po che ) is an incarnation line of the Drugpa Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. These are the successive incarnations of Khampa Karma Tenphel ( karma bstan 'phel ), an important Drugpa Kagyu master. The main seat of this incarnation line was the Khampagar Monastery (Khampa Gar) in Kham , Eastern Tibet, it was considered one of the most important monasteries of the Drugpa Kagyu Lineage. The 8th Khamtrül Rinpoche, Dongyu Nyima, established a Khampagar monastery in Tashi Jong , Himachal Pradesh , India in the late 1960s .
An important representative of the series was the 4th Khamtrül Rinpoche Tendzin Chökyi Nyima ( Tib. Bstan 'dzin chos kyi nyi ma ; 1730–1779 / 80), a student of Situ Penchen Chökyi Chungne . He is the author of rgyan gyi bcos bstan dbyangs can ngag gi rol mtsho , a highly regarded commentary on the ancient Indian mirror of poetry ( Tib. Snyan ngag me long ), which in the Tibetan book series gangs can rig mdzod was welcomed.
