biography

Hazrat Ishaan Saheb is said to have been born into a household of Sayyid descent. This means that he was the descendant of the Islamic prophet Mohammed through his daughter Fatima and his son-in-law ʿAlī ibn Abī Tālib . Legendary family trees show that he is 29th generation descended from the Prophet Mohammed. The founder of the Naqschbandi order Muhammad Baha'uddin Naqschband, as well as his son-in-law Ala'uddin Attar and the eleventh Imam of the Shiites Hasan al-ʿAskarī are named as further ancestors in this line .

In his early years he memorized the Koran and studied Islamic theology and jurisprudence . After graduating, he continued his education in Islamic spirituality with Khwaja Ishaq Wali Dahbidi. According to a legend, his master received him with the title “King of the Saints”, Persian Padschah al- auliyāʾ .

From this he obtained instructions to perform certain ritual prayers in the Qasr-Arifan mausoleum of his ancestor Baha-ud-Din Naqschband in Bukhara , which allowed his spiritual development to progress far.

Thereupon he received the instruction to spread the Ishaqiya way of the Naqshbandi order in Kashmir and Lahore , whereupon Hazrat Ishaan first founded a headquarters, Khanqah , in Kashmir. This khanqah is known today as Ziyarat Naqschband Saheb , the mausoleum of his son Moinuddin Naqschband Saheb.

After spreading the Ishaqiyya Naqshbandi Way in Kashmir , he continued his sermons in the Lahore area . There he founded his last Khanqah in Mehmoodabad , where he spread the Naqschbandi way in Lahore. This Khanqah is known today as the "Mazar Hazrat Ishaan", the mausoleum of Hazrat Ischaan and his three descendants and successors.
