Kidrama

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kidrama (also Kidramos , Latin Cidramus ) was an ancient city in the Asia Minor region of Caria (formerly also assigned to Phrygia ) in the west of today's Turkey near today's Yorga.

In Roman times the city minted coins with the inscription ΚΙΔΡΑΜΗΝΩΝ (Κιδραμην derν "the Kidramener"), through which we know the names of several city officials. The city was localized by Louis Robert , who compiled the inscriptions of Kidramas in his Corpus La Carie II . The titular diocese of Cidramus of the Roman Catholic Church goes back to a late antique bishopric of the city .
