The Kiebitzer See , also called Kiebitzer Baggerteich or popularly also Kiebitzsee , is a lake on the outskirts of the southern Brandenburg town of Falkenberg / Elster in the Elbe-Elster district . It is located in the Kiebitz district and, together with a campsite, forms the “Kiebitz” recreation area .

The lake was created by the local excavation of gravel from 1922. The water surface covers about 70 hectares with a maximum water depth of twelve meters. The lake is framed by large pine and mixed forests, such as the Schweinert nature reserve , which is home to one of the largest burial mounds from the Bronze Age in Europe .

With a resolution of the city council of Falkenberg / Elster in 1966, the gradual development of the local recreation area "Kiebitz" began. Today the south and east banks have been expanded to include a sandy beach, boat rental, water slide, beach volleyball , mini golf tournament, as well as dining facilities and a campsite in the west. There is a nudist beach north of the normal bathing beach and the lake also has its own fishing area to the west.

Every year on the first weekend in August there is a beach festival at the Kiebitzsee.
