Kiek in de Kök (High German: look into the kitchen ) is a Low German name that was coined for towers in the Middle Ages. From the tall buildings you could look into the kitchens of the city's citizens, so to speak.

Among other things, a tower in Danzig is called that in German . The 36 m high octagonal tower with a brick dome was built towards the end of the 14th century as part of the medieval fortification ring around the right town . The tower has eight floors, its walls are up to two and a half meters thick. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the tower was also used as a warehouse, an observation tower or a prison.

In Polish it is called "Jacek Bastion" in honor of St. Jacek Odrowąż (German Hyacinth of Poland ).
