Kiikoinen [ ˈkiːkoi̯nen ] (Swedish Kikois ) was a rural municipality with 1245 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2012) in western Finland . It is located around 50 km west of the port city of Pori and 70 km east of Tampere on State Road 11. Historically, Kiikoinen is part of the Pirkanmaa region , with the Finnish administrative reform in 1997 it was added to the Satakunta region. In 2013 Kiikoinen was incorporated into Sastamala and thus moved to the Pirkanmaa landscape.

The place covers an area of ​​144.34 km², of which 6.29 km² are inland water. The formerly independent municipality had the municipality number 254. At the time the municipality was dissolved on December 31, 2012, it had 1245 inhabitants, the population density was 9.0 inhabitants / km².

Kiikoinen belonged to the western parish of Kiika for a long time and became an independent parish in 1847; the wooden parish church was built in 1851 according to plans by Pehr Johan Gylich. The political community existed since 1922 and included the parish of Kiikoinen, Jaara, Kuorsumaa, Niemenmaa, Myöntee, Rautu, Jylhänmaa, Nevanperä, Hongistonmaa and Tervahauta. The settlement focus is on the west bank of the lake Kiikoisjärvi.

In addition to the municipal administration, the largest employer is the factory of the agricultural machinery manufacturer Potila Oy, there are also a few medium-sized craft businesses. Every summer, the folklore festival Festival Purpurijuhlat is held in Kiikoinen, which attracts several thousand visitors.
