Killeen Castle ( Irish Caisleán to chillin ) is a lowland castle in Killeen in the town of Castlegar in Irish County Galway .
history
In 1493 the Blake family , one of the 14 tribes of Galway, built a tower house . By the 19th century it became an estate of over 40 hectares. A farm was added to the Tower House, a gatehouse was built on the N84 road and a large house was built on the hill above the gatehouse, which was set on fire in the chaos of war of 1922 and burned down.
Then a farmer from Tuam bought the property. His son sold the castle to the musician Alec Finn in the 1980s . Finn sold the castle to the German filmmaker Ralph Chirstians in the 1990s . Christians had the castle expanded and converted into a house for his family.
