Kim Ji-won (boxer)

Kim Ji-won (* 6. August 1959 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a former South Korean boxer in the super bantamweight .

Professional career

On January 24th in 1982 he successfully made his professional debut. His 4th and 7th fight ended in a draw. At the. September 18, 1983, he defeated Chan Jung Chun over 10 rounds by unanimous decision and thereby won the South Korean championship. In December of the same year he competed against Little Bangoyan for the vacant OPBF championship and also won by unanimous decision.

After a total of four consecutive defenses of this title, he boxed on January 3, 1985 against Sung-In Suh for the world championship belt of the IBF association and won in a fight scheduled for 15 rounds in the 10th round by classic knockout. He still defended this title in the same year against Ruben Dario Palacios, Bobby Berna and again against Sung-In Suh and in the following year with a technical knockout victory in round 2 against Rudy Casicas. After successfully defending his title, he ended his career and resigned as the undefeated IBF World Champion.
